Our History

 |
KCCRC services began in March 1982 and met in the school
gymnasium
at John Young School in the community of Glen Carin. It began as
a mission church in the growing community of Kanata. Initially, there
were
15 families from the parent church, Calvin Christian Reformed Church in
Nepean. Pastor Henry Gunnink was the original pastor. |
| We purchased a piece of land at 46 Castlefrank Road,
Kanata.
Originally, we kept sheep on the land until we were ready to build the
church. |
 |
 |
Construction of the church began in the Winter of 1991. |
| The church construction was complete in the Spring of 1992
and the
first service was held in June 1992. |
 |
| Below is the inside of the church. There
are about
300 members and many visitors attending the service each Sunday. The
sunday
school program Promiseland meets part way through the service. The building
was intended
to be a multi-use and multi-purpose facility which can be used for the
Sunday services as well as a dinner hall for special occasions or a
gymnasium
for the young and young of heart to play in. Many community groups also
make use of our facility. |
